Tape media prices skyrocket

Media prices rose across the board this month. Pricing for Super DLTtape I jumped to $52, its highest price since this summer; LTO-1 broke the $40 barrier to finish at $43. Among the hard drive prices we track, 73GB SCSI drives fell nearly 10%, shaving more than $20 off the average price, while 146GB SCSI drives are down almost 7% to $243 (on average). Tape drive prices are all higher, with the exception of LTO-3, which dropped a little more than 11%. LTO-2 prices went up approximately 7%, making those drives around $450 more than LTO-3s.
