Tape leads the way for compliance storage
|
Who says tape is dead? The majority of respondents to this spring's Storage Purchasing Intentions survey use tape archiving to satisfy data-retention regulations. One quarter of those surveyed use disk-based backup, 19% use archive apps to retain data on disk, while virtual tape libraries meet the needs of 18% in complying with retention regulations. Disk-based WORM and optical WORM does the job for 13% and 5% of respondents, respectively.
