Tape drive prices hold steady

Among the categories we track, the price of 1TB SATA drives just keeps coming down, dropping 9.5% from last month and $83 overall since February. Tape drive costs registered mostly slight ups and downs this month, with the exception of LTO-2, which fell by 4%. However, LTO-2's current $2,704 price tag is still above its January price of $2,624. LTO-2 media climbed by approximately 6.5% this month, which brought its pricing level back to its 2008 debut value of $42.
