According to a recent study of Fortune 1000 storage professionals, storage area network (SAN) capacity is expected to grow by a healthy 51% in 2005--roughly the same percentage respondents predicted for 2004. Network-attached storage (NAS) capacity is also expected to grow by 51% this coming year, but this is down from the 70% projected growth for 2004. Storage pros may have had eyes too big for their stomachs when it came to NAS, as actual capacity only doubled last year, from an average of 22TB to 44TB.
