Ninety-three percent of Storage readers currently have or are planning tiered storage systems in which data is stored based on business value, and performance and capacity requirements. Adoption is moving at a healthy clip; more than 54% of respondents in the planning stages expect to have tiered storage running within the year, and an additional 21% expect their projects to be completed within two years. Also noteworthy: While more than 40% of respondents rely on 2Gb/sec Fibre Channel (FC) for storing Tier-1 data, almost one-third of respondents depend on 2Gb/sec FC for their Tier-2 storage as well.
