Prices drop for drives, tapes

Prices drop for drives, tapes

Prices on the SATA drives we track continued to come down this month, with 1TB drives dropping almost 6% to $325. For tape drives, only LTO-2 and DLT-S4 had a slight upward bump (less than 1% each), while LTO-4 tape drives dropped by more than 4%. LTO-1 and LTO-4 media both registered price drops of more than 6%. While LTO-1 pricing is now close to the level it had in November 2007, LTO-4 is down to $115 from the $127 price point it enjoyed six months ago.
