Price of SAS drives dips - Storage Technology Magazine

Price of SAS drives dips

This month, SAS drives fell more than 9% among the hard drive categories we track, contributing to an approximately 14% price drop over the last half year. DLT-S4 tape drives continue to experience ups and downs, jumping nearly 35% this month to $2,806--but still below their $2,946 price tag of six months ago. The cost of LTO-4 drives rose slightly, reversing a trend of price declines; LTO-2 drives dropped a third of a percent, while LTO-3 drive prices haven't budged in months. Super DLT-1 tape fell 3% to $44, down just a dollar from its spring 2008 price.
