Our recent salary survey confirms what most storage pros already knew: The most supported server platform in storage environments is the ubiquitous Windows. A whopping 98% of respondents to our annual Storage Salary Survey say their company's storage supports Windows. Linux and Unix tied at 66% apiece. (Respondents could choose more than one option.) Mainframe systems are hanging on with a third of respondents supporting that setup with their storage. NetWare platforms bring up the rear, with 14% of those surveyed saying they still support the older Novell operating system.
