Most Storage readers have multiple backup applications in-house, although the largest group (41%) still use only one. The main reason to use multiple backup applications: 37% of the time, it's a consequence of business activities like a merger or an acquisition. The next most common reason is platform support, followed by features. There were no surprises as to which five backup applications are most commonly used, although users who selected "Other" listed an additional 43 separate backup packages!
