Disk-to-disk backup enticing in many forms
In our latest Storage Purchasing Intentions survey, virtual tape libraries (VTLs) barely emerged as the top pick of respondents adding disk-to-disk backup strategies this year. VTLs will be the choice of 32% of those surveyed, while 31% will add disk configured as a file system for their backup. Twenty-eight percent won't make any disk-to-disk backup additions. Deduplication and continuous data protection are both on respondents' radar, with 20% and 13%, respectively, naming those as technologies they'll add. Only 5% will pick content-addressable or WORM backup this year. --Christine Cignoli |
