Hot technologies for 2011
Each year the editors of Storage magazine and the SearchStorage.com family of sites confer with industry experts -- analysts, consultants, service providers and users -- to determine which newer technologies are likely to end up in storage shops in the coming year. We describe the technologies and how they'll improve storage shop efficiencies. We'll also list the techs that aren't quite ready and grade ourselves on last year's predictions.
Storage salaries 2010
Now in its ninth year, the Storage magazine/ SearchStorage.com annual Storage Salary Survey asks storage professionals across the country about their compensation, benefits and perks. As the only salary survey that focuses exclusively on storage-related professions, this analysis will provide insight into the state of storage professions, considering such factors as years of experience, education, industry and geographic location.
Quality Awards V: Tape libraries
This is the fifth time we've focused our Quality Awards program on tape libraries. Although disk-based storage technologies may have lessened the role of tape hardware in most firms' backup operations, our purchasing research data finds that 76% of firms still spin some or all of their backup data off to tape. Our survey collects product service and reliability feedback from tape library users. Previous winners include Spectra Logic, Sun/StorageTek and IBM.
