Announced in June, the Magnitude 3D 1000m comes in a ruggedized 10U enclosure and includes a full SAN controller, disk shelves, management station, and Fibre Channel and Ethernet switching capabilities. Data capture can be either file- or block-based, and requires no host-side code to connect to the SAN.
"The idea was to build a turnkey bundle complete with the cabling and interconnects," says Tony Celeste, Xiotech's VP and general manager, government sales. "To maintain chain of command, the cabinets are locking," he says, which prevents enemies from tampering with data. The system also includes "heuristic hashing" to ensure data authenticity.
A few government agencies have already bought the 1000m but--surprise!--Xiotech is keeping their identities a secret.
