NAS is often a Catch-22. The value proposition of NAS has been its transparency and ease of use. There is built-in storage and data management that gives you powerful data sharing capability. But, the proliferation of NAS has led to the proliferation of filers all over the place. It's been similar to the proliferation of PCs because they are also easy to install and use, while being readily affordable.
