There are some codependencies here. Discovery, indexing, content classification and search can be implemented and used independently, but they can also depend on file archiving to some extent. Likewise, archiving can be a standalone function, but it can also be dependent on tools like indexing and search. For example, you can use a search tool independent of an archive, and you can use an archive without a search feature. But working together, those features can complement each other and enhance their value by identifying files that are candidates for archiving and actually interface with data migration tools to perform the move. Similarly, archives can use search tools for e-discovery and other litigation support functions.
