Learning Center:  iSCSI vs. Fibre Channel
Last Updated: Nov 28, 2001
Are iSCSI and Fibre Channel an either/or equation for your SAN? It depends on who's talking. We've put together some great resources to help you weigh in on the subject.

iSCSI gets Intel stamp of approval

(28 Nov 2001)

With its introduction of an iSCSI-based IP storage adapter, Intel's backing of iSCSI is likely to fuel acceptance for IP over storage technology. The move also gives credence to other players, such as IBM and Cisco, who compete in the iSCSI space.

This week's poll:
There's been a lot of talk about the needs for storage standards. How vital is it to you that the different storage factions settle on standards?

Very important, particularly in buying decisions.
Somewhat important. It might be helpful to my business.
Whatever. Having standards wouldn't affect my needs one way or another.
Who cares. Standards are important only to vendors looking to position themselves in the market.
