VMware VVOLs redefine storage

VMware has been shaking up data storage for years, and its VVOLs technology just might revolutionize it. The newly introduced VMware VVOLs have vendors scrambling to support it or risk becoming irrelevant in the virtual machine storage market. VVOLs should make configuring and allocating storage easy while providing traditional networked storage services.

Many companies use cloud storage services, but few have significant amounts of data in the cloud. Uneasiness about having data offsite, as well as security issues, still dog cloud storage. Hybrid implementations pairing on-premises storage with cloud storage are becoming popular, with vendors offering a variety of products and services.

Now in its 10th year, the Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com Quality Awards poll readers about the service and reliability of data storage products. Read the results of our latest survey on enterprise-class arrays.
