Access "No rush to deploy iSCSI"

In the past year or so, iSCSI adoption hasn't budged, at least not according to a recent Storage survey. We last asked storage users about iSCSI adoption in July 2007, and the percentage of respondents using iSCSI is still 44%. And while users have had more time to kick iSCSI's tires as the technology has become more widespread, the percentage of those choosing not to deploy iSCSI has jumped from 9% in 2007 to 28%. Twenty-eight percent researched iSCSI last year when the protocol was newer, but only 12% are currently researching it. Respondents who use iSCSI still like its bargain prices, with 73% citing cost as their top reason for using the technology vs. 80% of those surveyed last year. And respondents haven't found a more favored way to deploy iSCSI, with 67% now running an iSCSI SAN over a dedicated Ethernet network vs. 64% choosing that as the top method in 2007.
