QUESTION POSED ON: 03 February 2003
My company is researching the possibility of running a second daily backup to an off-site SAN. What would it take to do this? Our regular DLT incrementals would continue. This would be for a disaster scenario where we would not be able to get to or access our data onsite.

I would not recommend making a "backup" due to the bandwidth required. If you've got connectivity, I would recommend replication. This can still be done in batches but it isn't the same load that backup would create due to the occasional full backups that would take place with most backup software. Replication would be a much better fit.
