QUESTION POSED ON: 25 October 2002
Due to the September 11 incident bringing attention to DR capability, integrity, RTO and RPO, what percent of increase in product purchase is mirroring based? What is the best process for returning data after recovery?

>

The first question is a bit hard to answer. I personally have not seen the massive move to DR systems that one might expect after such a tragedy. I do see people taking backup and recovery in general a little bit more seriously and discussing DR a bit more, but they haven't started moving wholesale to significantly increase the functionality of their DR solution -- YET.

The second question is impossible to answer without context. The answer depends on the customer placing value in the right place. For example: Which is more important, being able to get to your data moments after a disaster or being able to still make phone calls? Only you can make those decisions.
