QUESTION POSED ON: 17 April 2002
Will an EIDE Ultra ATA/100 hard drive perform as a regular EIDE hard drive if the motherboard was not compatible with Ultra ATA/100? This would also be assuming that the ribbon cable, as well, is NOT an ATA cable.

ATA/100 has many benefits over standard EIDE. I imagine you want to use the ATA drive with your motherboard since EIDE disks are getting harder to come by. I would either get an ATA/100 adapter or replace your motherboard.
