Webster defines security as "freedom from danger, measures taken especially to guard against espionage or sabotage." Information security protects information against unauthorized access or modification, while ensuring its secrecy (confidentiality), accuracy (integrity) and availability.
Storage security protects storage resources. Storage resources include all of the hardware and software components constituting the storage networks such as the HBAs, the switches, the media, any appliances, the user data and the management information about the storage resources.
