You're asking for an opinion on a particular product and we at Evaluator Group don't make endorsements but do analysis to discuss the value, strengths and weaknesses of products and all that must be taken into context of usage. We cover that in more depth at seminars and it is impossible to do in a brief Q&A session.
Regarding backup and restore, they are the most fundamental, common elements of data processing that have been around almost since the beginning. That hasn't changed and won't in the future. NDMP is another communication/control method to help automate the process and can have significant value. Right now, not all vendors implement it so the pervasiveness needs to grow to allow it to be a very common implementation.
You'll need to look at your operational environment and the types of equipment you have or will be acquiring to determine what's best for you. The correct product depends on many elements, including your comfort level with the particular vendor and their support.
