QUESTION POSED ON: 13 May 2005 When a file is saved, is it stored in memory or hard disk?
>
When a file is open, it is loaded into memory. Any changes you make to the file are also kept in memory, which is why it is always recommended to frequently save your work. Every time you save an open file, it writes the data back to disk thus preventing loss of the changes should the system crash or lose power.
