What are the differences between iFCP and FCIP? When do you use them? Are there any iFCP/FCIP HBAs? Could you use legacy network boards with software initiators (like iSCSI software initiators) to run them?

>
These are primarily used to connect SANs or remote storage and are not implemented from the server. You would need the switch or multiprotocol router or specialty device to implement the conversion to communicate between the SANs over IP. iFCP translates a Fibre Channel frame to IP and then translates it back after it reaches the destination. FCIP is a tunneling protocol to send FC frames in tact over IP. There are no server HBAs involved in this manner. Look at McDATA's and Brocade's Web sites to get more information.
