EMC World 2016 served as the de facto launch of Dell Technologies and Dell EMC. Although Dell’s blockbuster $60 billion-plus acquisition of EMC did not officially close until Sept. 7, 2016, Michael Dell played a prominent role in the news during EMC World in May. He chose the Las Vegas user show to reveal his new company would be called Dell Technologies after the merger, with EMC changing its name to Dell EMC. EMC World attendees watched long-time EMC CEO Joe Tucci pass the baton to Michael Dell in Tucci’s last prominent public appearance as EMC’s leader.
Much of the conference was dedicated to assuring nervous customers that the new company would deliver change for the better. EMC rolled out a bevy of new products, concentrating on emerging technology such as flash and hybrid cloud storage.
SearchStorage editors reported frequent updates from the show, with stories and videos capturing customer reaction and all the company and product news. If you missed anything from the conference, or want a refresher, here are all of our stories and videos from EMC World 2016.
