What to consider when looking for a remote replication solution

I am looking for a remote replication solution between my east and west coast data centers. What factors should I consider and what vendors stand out?

Your replication solution will obviously need to be able to support high latency transfers. I would also recommend finding a solution that works with many disk and OS vendors rather than buying separate solutions for your SAN/non-SAN environments.
