In short, the answer is yes, there are products that can look at Fibre Channel cable and analyze Fibre Channel frames. Protocol analyzers and tools are available from vendors including Agilent, CATC, Finisar and Xyratex. Some other tools that support Fibre Channel analysis (and might be familiar to a network person) include Ethereal and NetScout. Fibre Channel frames are similar to an Ethernet packet, in that multiple frames can be assembled and transmitted like Ethernet packets containing source, destination, frame header and other information.
