Q

Sharing LUNs/disks between different operating systems

In today's SAN environment, is there any method of "sharing" LUNs/disks between differing OSs through a SAN topology?

Yes, LUNs can be shared by using a clustered or distributed file system. The hard part of any of these is locking, writing and accessing recently updated data. Whatever, there are several out there and more on the way.

Here is a short list off the top of my head:

Tivoli's Sanergy
ADIC's CentraVision
SGI's CXFS
Sistina's GFS

Regards,
Marc
