SAN solutions
I am new to the SAN environment, but realize that my company needs to implement this technology. Do you have any advice as to what to stay away from? Who do you believe to have the best solution san solution?

That is way too political a question!

Try to stay away from equipment that is loop only. It's fine to use loops, but just make sure it can be used with a switch if you change your mind about topology in the future. That means the HBA or subsystem controller must implement an NL-port.

Start small, and buy a complete solution that is certified by the vendor. Stick with their recommendations for HBAs and drivers. Then have fun!

There are good solutions from HP, IBM, Compaq, HDS and EMC.
