Purchasing issues with DMX-1000s and DMX-2000s

What are the issues with buying two DMX-1000s vs. DMX-2000?

If you buy two DMX 1000s, you can put them in different local locations (assume high speed fiber connections to both) and use SRDF between them to get better disaster protection.

All other differences such as scalability should be obvious, the DMX-2000 is twice the size.
