Q

Protecting against failure of a disk array

What do you recommend for protecting against failure of a disk array? We have replication via EMC SRDF, but failover...

is not automatic. Do you use "duplex mirroring" via software RAID 1 connecting to two disk arrays?

I cannot make a blanket recommendation without knowing more of the specifics. There are a number of replication products with failover capabilities built into them and most of them are not tied to the disk vendor, as SRDF is.
