Maximum distance for trustworthy data

It's probably been asked a hundred times and in many different ways but my question is:

sites with local SANs using Connectrix ED-64M fabrics, linked by DWDM (Nortel Optera 5200) and the user wants to run a fully sync data replication using SRDF. What is my max distance between fabrics to ensure I can trust my data at the far end?
This question is NOT asked a thousand times and it's a great question, but I believe it may be a trick question.

The issue here is system performance, not data consistency or integrity. If you are using synchronous mode with SRDF, the data will not be acknowledged to the host until it is both local and remote subsystem caches. The distance should be irrelevant.

Distance is an issue using asynchronous mode.
