Q

How long can you use a tape/floppy disk?

1) Is there an online recovery?
2) How long do we reuse the cartridge tape/floppy disk?

I'm not sure of your first question but the answer to your second question is highly debated. Each tape cartridge publishes a number of passes that that particular tape type can be used for. The numbers range from 200 to 30,000 passes. I personally use a tape until it complains then I throw it away immediately. (Of course, I have more than one copy of every backup.)
