The short answer is no. Each NAS vendor has some type of software offerings that are meant to help distinguish them from the competition. There's not really any third party software that "homogenizes" the feature set for NAS offerings. In addition, there are no standards for how the features are implemented by the different vendors - they all work differently. This was first published in April 2001
