What are the common disadvantages of fiber optic?
There are not many common disadvantages of fiber optic cabling but cost would be the main one. They are more expensive. Otherwise they are superior in almost every way for transmitting data signals. Maybe somebody could argue that the cabling is not as flexible and that it can't be bent in as small a radius as copper, but I don't believe that is a disadvantage in your average data center.
