Norton disk doctor is a good way to start. Other solutions are available but try http://www.winternals.com for some cool tools to help you.
You may also want to check the Winntmag Web site and search for author and master coder Mark Russinovich who is a PHD from Carnegie Mellon and has written many device driver level tools for data manipulation and recovery.
