Criteria for choosing a NAS appliance for data caching

What are the criteria I should apply when choosing a NAS appliance for the broadcast/real time media data caching?...

Typically you want to see if the vendor has specifically designated that the NAS device can be used for video streaming, etc. These types of applications require high bandwidth that necessitates some tuning on the part of the NAS device in the area of buffering and the transfer segment sizes. Vendors understand this and will spell out whether they support it or not. If it's not stated, it probably won't be adequate for your application.

When you talk with a vendor, tell them that video streaming support is required. That will narrow your choices considerably.
