A to Z predictions and trends for 2002

Our A to Z Storage Networking Expert Marc Farley comes up with his five predictions/trends for the upcoming year. Useful management automation? A new buzzword? Find out what Marc has to say about what's coming our way.

  1. Meaningful management automation for storage networks will start to arrive that actually helps people plan, install and operate their storage networks.
  2. "Provisioning" will replace "virtualization" as the new buzzword by the end of the year.
  3. FC switch vendors continue to disappoint with a lack of compatible functionality to build heterogeneous SANs.
  4. Adaptec resurfaces as a key company in the industry with iSCSI chipsets.
  5. Remote mirroring solutions/services begin to move out of the proprietary world into the open systems world.

Regards,
Marc
